PRETENSIONS:
I smile
I laugh
I talk
But ohh
That big big lump down my throat
Keeps pricking on and off
Engaged as I m in a monotonous
Dance of Death
I have become an expert at pretending
Hiding my tears behind that canopy of glazed teeth
My frosted lips playing a different tune
A happy carefree soul...
But if u look deep into my eyes
Try drowning in their fathomless depths
You would perhaps find
That tear drop lurking somewhere
Lost in an abyss of mundane pretensions
But baby, trust me
It's so difficult to pretend
To move on any farther
It's just overwhelming
You may call me a coward
But if you walk into my shoes
Even for a moment
You would find
That even with the din and bustle
Of heyday music and mania
Of friends and comrades in arms
You are all too alone
And though it's hard letting go
It's harder still,
Not letting go...
I laugh
I talk
But ohh
That big big lump down my throat
Keeps pricking on and off
Engaged as I m in a monotonous
Dance of Death
I have become an expert at pretending
Hiding my tears behind that canopy of glazed teeth
My frosted lips playing a different tune
A happy carefree soul...
But if u look deep into my eyes
Try drowning in their fathomless depths
You would perhaps find
That tear drop lurking somewhere
Lost in an abyss of mundane pretensions
But baby, trust me
It's so difficult to pretend
To move on any farther
It's just overwhelming
You may call me a coward
But if you walk into my shoes
Even for a moment
You would find
That even with the din and bustle
Of heyday music and mania
Of friends and comrades in arms
You are all too alone
And though it's hard letting go
It's harder still,
Not letting go...
